In the Engineering Design Workshop class this fall, HS students learned how to operate the machines in our Makerspace to design and create hands-on projects. Students created a handmade cutting board for their class projects using the table saw, the bandsaw, and the sanders. They also designed an acrylic hanging light to learn laser cutting while gaining knowledge of the software Adobe Illustrator. At the end of the semester, Dalton Archivist Kris Santos led a trip to the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum to view the exhibits Design and Healing: Creative Responses to Epidemics and Designing Peace: Building a Better Future Now.
